Manchester City demonstrated a lot of grit, poise, and finesse as they defeated PSG 2-1 on Paris turf. They kept their calm even after trailing 1-0 at the half.
PSG started out strong and pressuring in the first 20 minutes but completely lost their mojo afterwards and the game was largely controlled by City with a few failed counterattacks by Neymar and company.
City just have so much more depth. When you have the likes of Fernandinho, Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, and Aguero on the bench you know you have a great team. PSG simply do not have that same depth.
It's mind boggling why Pochettino would decide to put Idrissa Gueye, who get sent out with a red card as a starter in midfield when you have so much more quality in Ander Herrera and Julian Draxler.
Unless Neymar and Mbappe come out inspired in game 2, which they are capable of, and help PSG mount an amazing comeback, City should move on to the finals.
Chelsea v. Madrid was a more balanced game. You definitely have to give an edge to Chelsea, however, for game 2 as that away goal should certainly help.
Kante and Pulisic were on form and they should aide Chelsea in sealing their ticket to the final in game 2.
With an all English final, you definitely have to give with City. They have a much better team this year as witnessed by their EPL standing.
They will probably therefore become the next Champions League winners for the first time in their history giving a great treat to their fans who have been angry over the whole Super League fiasco.
