NFL Draft Round 1 Analysis

Big Winners of the Draft:

Trey Lance

Trey Lance: Lance got selected third overall to the 49ers after a long awaited and disputed selection processes. A lot of people had Mac Jones or Justin Fields, but the Niners must have been sold on Lance's athleticism and depth.

He is certainly less experienced having played a limited number of games in college but his record in those games is almost impeccable.

He will be headed to a great team who were Super Bowl contenders just two years ago with great weapons both on offense and defense and a great coach in addition to an experienced quarterback in Kyle Shanahan and Jimmy Garoppolo to learn from.

Patriots: The Pats had Mac Jones fall in their lap at 15th overall without even having to trade for him. Mac Jones is a solid pocket-passer that a lot of people thought was the third best quarterback in the draft. He reminds you of a young Tom Brady and with mentoring from Belichik and Cam Newton can definitely become a great starter in the NFL for the Pats.

Eagles: The Eagles made a surprising trade with their rivals, the Cowboys, to select Heisman winner Devonta Smith for the 10th overall pick reuniting him with Jalen Hurts to give the Eagles an exciting offense to keep an eye on this upcoming season. All they had to do was give up a 3rd round pick which is a trade anyone would make any given day.
